Night is a novel written from the perspective of a Jewish teenager, about his experiences as a prisoner during the Holocaust.

Our teenager named Eliezer grew up in the small community of Sighet, located in Hungarian Transylvania. At the beginning of the war Eliezer was dedicated and absolute in his belief of God, but throughout the events of World War II his faith slowly starts to wither away. Eliezer's main conflict that governs the story would be sustaining his belief in God. This becomes especially hard throughout the book, as he has to face more and more challenging issues. One point in the story that Eliezer questions his faith in God is when they are forced to watch the hanging of other prisoners, one time the Gestapo even hangs and kills a small child for being associated with the rebels. It seems that during this point the prisoners start to react for means of survival only, family members were turning on each other.

The prisoners turn cold hearted and cruel towards each other because now their only concern is survival. Because of the horrific events in the concentration camp and the ever-present risk of death does Eliezer begin to lose his faith in humanity and his God. Eliezer has a tough time understanding how the world and the Gestapo can be capable of this much fury. Because his teachings tell him that God is good, and since God is everywhere the world therefore must be good. Eliezer has a hard time watching the other families interact because they no longer share a special bond of love but instead share the idea of selfishness.

More than once Eliezer experiences the rupture of the bond a family shares between both the father and son. He describes his bond with his father as a support system; they both ensure the other has enough to survive. Get Access. Decent Essays. Night By Elie Wiesel Essay Words 3 Pages. Another important consequence of climate change may be a shortage of drinking water. In regions with arid climate Central Asia, the Mediterranean, South Africa, Australia, etc. Hunger, water scarcity, and insect migration can lead to an increase in epidemics and the spread of tropical diseases such as malaria in the northern regions. One of the most tangible consequences of climate warming is likely to be the melting of glaciers and an increase in the level of the World Ocean. Millions of people on the coast will die from frequent floods or will be forced to relocate, UN analysts predict.

According to the expert community, sea level rise in the 21st century will be up to 1 m in the 20th century — 0. In this case, the most vulnerable are the lowlands, coastal areas and small islands. The first to enter the risk zone are the Netherlands, Bangladesh and small island states, such as the Bahamas, the Maldives. Significant territories can be flooded in countries such as Russia, the United States, Britain, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Iraq, Thailand and Vietnam. According to scientists, it is unlikely to completely stop the climate change to mankind. However, the international community is able to contain the temperature increase in order to avoid irreversible environmental consequences.

To do this, it is necessary to limit greenhouse gas emissions, develop alternative energy and develop a strategy to reduce risks due to warming. Plans to minimize damage from climate change should cover all areas of human activities, including health, agriculture and infrastructure. In cold areas, for example, you need to change the storm sewage system, prepare for storm winds recalculate the strength of structures , change the fire-fighting system — droughts increase the fire hazard. However, different states have different opportunities to level out the impact of climate change.

For example, Holland and Bangladesh experience the same problems: there are more storms, the ocean level has risen. But in Holland there is already a plan of action, they know how they will strengthen the dams, where they will take the funds. And in Bangladesh, there is nothing of this. Thus, most of the measures needed for adaptation are simple and straightforward, but they require tools and effective planning. There is thus need for a clearer definition of climate finance, better coordination among existing global climate finance facilities, dedicated climate initiatives, as well as enhanced harmonization of funding requirements that can channel climate finance flows to the most climate-vulnerable countries.

While African countries do have their part to play, the principle of common but differentiated responsibility and respective capabilities requires that the most polluting countries bear the greatest burden of climate financing. Ultimately, climate change is a global commons problem. The climate challenge cannot be addressed if any country fails to meet its Nationally Determined Contributions NDCs. And the world cannot expect Africa to implement its NDCs if the expected climate finance flows to fund the conditional NDCs, are not made available. Should the current trends continue, it is certain that Africa will not achieve its NDCs by By implication, the global community will not be able to reach the Paris Climate Accord.

However, for African countries and non-state actors to attract increased climate finance and play a greater role in structuring the green financial architecture, Africa must position itself as a worthy investment destination for climate finance focused on long-term development issues. To achieve this, I propose a few key areas of focus for policymakers. First, countries must have green investment plans, and second, it is critical to bring the private sector to the table and to give it space to innovate. In addition, policymakers should use public finance to de-risk private investment and have a regulatory environment that enables doing business with variable financing tools. Lastly, developed countries must deliver on the pledges already made without any further and new conditionalities to spur green development for a common 1.

These can create a green development pathway that promises economic growth opportunities, industrialization, and jobs, propelling Africa past a more traditional, less green infrastructure and development approach. Country platforms should also encompass the private sector, so that there is a cohesive approach as to who will invest where, and who is best placed to tackle the varying aspects of mitigation and adaptation and protection. These kind of innovations by the private sector are in line with what the Paris Agreement envisioned. Second, debt-for-climate swaps and carbon markets should be rolled out more broadly as part of the solution to debt crises which plague a long and growing list of African nations.

According to the World Resources Institute, of the great rainforests in the world, only the Congo rainforest has enough standing forest left to absorb more carbon from the atmosphere than it releases. Commercializing such nature assets, and making sure they attract fair value and benefit neighboring communities, is a key feature of the Africa Carbon Markets Initiative ACMI 8 —an initiative that has created a roadmap for developing African voluntary carbon markets, with the aim to accelerate and scale carbon credit production on the continent.

The initiative proposes to leverage an advanced market commitment AMC , which in essence is an upfront guarantee from buyers and multiple corporations, to purchase African carbon credits. This AMC will help send a strong demand signal and incentivize appetite for good quality and innovative credits. There is huge potential in making carbon markets work to attract more climate finance. Third, there is need for gender-informed investing to enhance climate adaptation and resilience. We cannot afford the current architecture of global green finance to perpetuate existing disparities in those it serves. On January 30, AGI will host a Foresight Africa launch featuring a high-level panel of leading Africa experts to offer insights on regional trends along with recommendations for national governments, regional organizations, multilateral institutions, the private sector, and civil society actors as they forge ahead in Aloysius Uche Ordu introduces Foresight Africa , which outlines top priorities for the year ahead and offers recommendations for supporting Africa at a time of heightened global turbulence.

What is important for us is to understand that in our ancient texts, we have enough reference of non-verbal communication between man, nature, and animals. Communication with nature and animals was considered the best way to reinforce learning in the Indian gurukul system of learning. Therefore, communication is as old as our civilization.

Even in pre-civilization days, non-verbal communication was in existence between man, nature, and animals. In organizations, however, language-based or verbal communication is more important. With language, communication within and outside the organizations became much more effective and global. With market globalization, the English language has been accepted as a medium of communication even by the countries such as China, Japan, Russia, France, and Germany, whose considered policy was to communicate—while trading with the various countries of the world—in their own languages, but that did not work well. Therefore, with language, communication in organizations becomes much more simple and meaningful.

An all-inclusive definition of communication is difficult to develop, obviously because of its all-encompassing nature. Hence, to the extent possible, we will restrict our efforts to define communication in the organizational context. From the organizational point of view, therefore, communication has the features of interaction, interchange, sharing, and commonness. Communication is a two way process. It involves a sender and a receiver. The sender or receiver can be an individual or a group. All communication carries a message. Message can be in the form of information, a directive, an enquiry, a feeling, an opinion, an idea, or in any other form. Communication can occur only when there is commonness of understanding between the sender and the receiver.

The commonness includes factors like common culture, common language, and common environment. The written form of communication is a crucial one and at the same time, it is very tricky. One must very carefully construct the words in a written form as this can be documented for years to come. The use of written communication is in professional terms like circulars, memos, letters, and bank statements. Only experts get involved in drafting written statements when legalities are concerned. Visual communication means conveying information through graphical representation like statistical data, pie charts, and bar graphs. All of this should also be based on facts and not mere assumptions. The formal way of communicating is obeyed with colleagues and seniors wherein the sender needs to be controlled and measured in words as everything is for official purpose.

Informal communication is with peers and friends groups where there is a camaraderie between such groups and it can be casual with no rules and obligations and formalities. When one is not a good communicator the repercussions can be of varying degrees to different people. In an official environment if miscommunication occurs one might even be suspended or lose their job. So one must learn the ways and importance of good communication. Knowing the audience one is addressing is the primary and most important step. If there is a younger audience the language must be simple and targeted specifically to them. Usage of a non-verbal mode of communication can be very effective.

Like making eye contact when speaking can give a better understanding of the extent of grasping information of the audience. Preparation before speaking is very important. One must be fully aware of the importance and objective of the message to be conveyed. Usage of images and drawings, if need be one must explain using pictures as they can give a different perspective to the audience you are passing on the information to. Be clear and precise and there is no need to add extra pieces of information when not required. Listening more attentively before jumping to conclusions is very important. Promotes cooperation and improves the working environment. When everyone is on the same page about what is expected, then people work in teams to complete the task.

Enhances working relationships and fosters a strong team. When there is good communication practice there are no misunderstandings and people find it easier to trust others. Effective communication increases managerial efficiency. As higher management can trust their subordinates to do the work in less time than allotted. Decision-making becomes easier as everyone can contribute their ideas and brainstorming also can be fun and creative. Healthy relationships can be formed be it professional or personal. When one can communicate themselves well enough then they earn the respect of others and this only forms lasting bonds. In this short importance of communication essay, a brief account of the communication methods and importance is discussed.

Communication and the need for it to be good has become increasingly important in all fields of life. Communication is a way to pass on information about a certain belief, emotions, feelings, and ideas from one person to another or from one person to a group of people. The formal way of communication is usually in an official setup and people use more formal language and controlled ways of conveying information. Whereas informal communication is the opposite, there are no set rules and only casual language in such a form of communication. However, the importance of good communication is as important in any form of communication as it improves the work environment, there is no communication gap, all jump on the same bandwagon, one can easily find solutions when they communicate their issues and problems with clarity.

Good communication also helps create healthy boundaries in both personal and professional life so it is important to be a good communicator for a stress-free life with no misunderstandings. There are so many skills in the present context but communication skills are always useful in every aspect of life. Communication is the process of conveying a message, idea and information between different people or groups of people. It is the key to connecting individuals, groups and organizations. Robert Frost was born in and died He was an American poet. Summary: The poem tells a story about two men walking down a road on their way to work. They encounter two women who are doing the same thing. One woman is dressed modestly, carrying her lunch basket. The other one is more provocative, wearing shorts and flirting with the men as they walk by her. The first man with whom you identify admires then ignores the sensuous looker because he has Mary, his wife at home to love him honestly for himself; while the second man lusts after her because he is married to a woman who does not appreciate him for who he is.

The first man then imagines what it would be like if people were able to see through the characters they present and bestow upon them the love that they deserve. You may also have an effect on other people through your personality, body language and style. One man admires her sensuous look, while the other ignores her all together. Robert Frost is excellent at describing how people interact with each other without pretense because nature is where we feel whole. You could not tell by looking at this woman or man that she was mean or generous, a loving person or one seeking pleasure; but when either of them came close enough for someone else to touch their arms, you discovered who they were and gave them true love.

Each paragraph should have some kind of transition sentence or phrase at the beginning so that it is clear how each new aspect will relate to previous information.

Your conclusion can summarize what was accomplished in the essay or further explore ideas presented throughout the piece. If you use an outside source for research, cite it using a proper citation style. Two quotes in the main body will do just fine. In the main body paragraph, a quote is placed in the middle of the passage. First, you introduce a focal sentence of a paragraph highlighting your point of view regarding a topic. After that, you provide the evidence data and argumentation, among which is a relevant quote. And finally, you smoothly transit to the next body paragraph or the conclusion. Accurate integration of a citation in a text is key. Or the whole passage will sound off. College essay quotes have to be naturally embedded in a text. See how organically a quote is inserted in a sentence? Sometimes, ending an essay with a quote is better than merely restating your thesis statement.

Citations can be taken from both primary and secondary sources. According to essay writing websites, quotations taken from the words of subject authorities and thought leaders will do great, too. As a student, you might find drawing inspiration a bit too difficult. Let them think you were born that way. Many times life catches us off balance. Lots of written homework. Tight schedule. Using direct citations in your academic paper or extended essays topics is the best way of substantiating your thoughts with solid proof and enhancing the credibility of your arguments. In addition to that, quotes are also very useful for proving the subject or the thesis of your essay. To do so, you can either use the MLA quoting style or go for the APA style. Keep in mind that unless you mention the original writer when including a citation, your work will be regarded as plagiarized. After you insert the citations in your paper, you need to add a bibliography section at the very end.

If wish to find out how to add citations to an academic paper, read on. When quoting poems, the number of the page will be replaced by verses. However, you still have to mention the date in a comprehensive bibliography section at the end of the paper. When using the MLA style, a fragment that includes less than 4 lines of narration or 3 verses of a poem is regarded as short. There is no rectitude whatsoever. There is no virtue. If you wish to quote more than one paragraph, you need to use block citations, regardless of the particular length of every fragment from those paragraphs. You ought to use an indentation of an additional quarter inch on the initial line of every paragraph. When you need to quote an entire poem or a fragment from a poetry, you ought to preserve the original formatting style of the verses.

To understand this, take a look at the following example:. This may be helpful when you are required to modify the significance of the quote to some extent, for the purpose of providing an adequate context or eliminating certain parts that may be irrelevant to your ideas. Keep this in mind while your toefl essay topic. Take a look at the following examples that illustrate the way in which you need to add the citation in both situations:. Use ellipses … when you wish to leave out a fragment that is irrelevant to your paper.

Still, you have to try and gather as much data as possible. Take a look at the following examples:. Quoting brief fragments. Here are some examples that illustrate this:. You have to start the citation on a new row. Moreover, you need to add an indentation of 0. Afterwards, you need to add the entire fragment while preserving the same margin.
